RECREATIONAL DANCE

As a non-profit organization, we’re proud to offer affordable and inclusive recreational dance opportunities for kids and teens aged 3-18. Our dancers can explore a variety of exciting styles—like acro, tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and more—while growing in a supportive and fun environment. Each season is finished off with a recital to showcase all their hard work to family and friends.

New this year, we’ve introduced a colour-coding system to group students by age, skill, and experience levels. This thoughtful approach helps every dancer feel confident, supported, and challenged, ensuring they get the most out of each class.

Join us and be part of a community that celebrates movement, creativity, and the pure joy of dance!

Colour-Coding System

To make our recreational classes fun and inclusive, we've developed a colour-coding system to group students. We consider factors like age, skill level, and experience to create balanced groups. This thoughtful system helps ensure that every dancer feels supported, encouraged, and excited to grow while enjoying the process in every class.

Mauve
Introductory Level

Foundations & Exploration
Mauve classes are designed for our youngest dancers, providing a fun and nurturing introduction to the world of dance. At this stage, students explore basic movement, rhythm, coordination, and creative expression. Classes focus on building confidence, listening skills, and body awareness in a supportive and imaginative environment. This is where the dance journey begins!

Teal
Developing Level

Building Technique & Musicality
Teal classes are ideal for dancers who have moved beyond the basics and are ready to build a strong technical foundation. These dancers begin to explore more structured choreography and are introduced to the discipline and focus needed for continued growth. Emphasis is placed on technique, musicality, and performance quality, while still nurturing creativity and enthusiasm for dance.

Magenta
Transitional Level

Expanding Skills & Versatility
Magenta classes are for dancers who have developed a solid technical base and are now ready to expand their skills. These classes focus on refining technique, increasing strength and flexibility, and exploring a broader range of dance styles. Dancers at this level are challenged with more complex choreography and are encouraged to grow in both artistry and discipline as they prepare for advanced opportunities.

Aqua
Advanced Level

Excellence, Artistry & Leadership
Aqua classes are reserved for our most experienced and dedicated dancers — typically dancers who demonstrate strong technique, maturity, and commitment to their training. These classes emphasize precision, artistry & performance presence. Dancers are expected to take initiative, work independently, and act as role models within the studio. Aqua dancers are role models for our younger dancers and we rely on them to model appropriate behaviour and technique.

Placement Disclaimer: Please note that dancers may be placed in different colour levels across various genres or classes. Placement decisions are thoughtfully made with teachers based on several factors, including a dancer’s maturity, skill level, technique, class availability, and in some cases, social dynamics and friendships to help support a positive learning environment. Our goal is to ensure every dancer is placed where they will grow, feel challenged, and thrive.
